These 2 Leeds United players are to blame for the club’s awful season

Leeds United fans here in the Tavern are hoping to see a managerial change in the summer, after failing to grind out positive results under Paul Heckingbottom.

Sadly, the Whites have nothing to play for from here on in until the end of the season, after struggling to gather any momentum since Paul Heckingbottom took charge back in February. Indeed, Leeds have arguably taken a step backwards since Thomas Christiansen’s departure and don’t look like improving any time soon, as the club has some serious issues to sort out.

However, the players haven’t helped the cause on the pitch as a couple of the club’s first-team members have been poor all season, with the blame being placed on their shoulders for the awful season that supporters have witnessed. Therefore, many of our local residents want to see a number of changes made in the summer transfer window, as a repeat of this season could see them flirt with the possibility of relegation in the next campaign.

Therefore, these TWO Leeds United players are to blame for the club’s awful season…

Matthew Pennington

The on loan Everton defender hasn’t made much of an impact since joining in the summer transfer window, as he often finds himself on the substitutes’ bench after a few nervy performances.

Indeed, the 23-year-old has struggled to come to terms with Championship football this season, with attackers often getting the better of him as an error is never too far away.

As a result, Leeds United should avoid bringing him to Elland Road on a permanent deal at the end of the season, as he’s been one of the club’s biggest liabilities in the current campaign.

Vurnon Anita

Vurnon Anita has had a season to forget after joining on a free transfer in the summer months, as he’s failed to make the most of an extended period in the side in an unfamiliar position at left-back.

Indeed, the former Newcastle United midfielder finds himself on the substitutes’ bench more often than not, after producing a number of appalling performances in a defensive position that he finds difficult.

Therefore, the 29-year-old has been one of the players that have contributed towards an awful season, having failed to ensure consistency and quality.
