These 2 Man City players surely should not start against Stoke City today – agreed?

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are still reeling after their side beat Chelsea on the last Premier League matchday…

It was a stellar performance from the Citizens on a night that proved their character. They had impressed up until that point, but that was their first stern test of the season – and they passed with flying colours.

Fortunately for Pep Guardiola, his next game is a far easier proposition to prepare for. Stoke City are in town this weekend to take on the Sky Blues, and it’s a game that is sure to excite the fans in the Transfer Tavern.

It’s a game that Man City should really be winning, regardless of who Pep Guardiola selects. This could give rise to a few team changes, with the Spaniard likely keen to keep his entire squad fresh.

Thus, there are a few players that started against Chelsea that may be due a rest this weekend.

With that said, these 2 Man City players surely should not start against Stoke City today – agreed?

 Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane has had a good season, but he wasn’t at his best against Chelsea.

In truth, given how well all of his teammates performed, he got a bit lost in the pack – but that’s no bad thing. It wasn’t his day, but that happens, and he’ll no doubt come back stronger.

That said, one of the reasons why he struggled could be due to tiredness. He has played a lot of football this season, and Guardiola is often keen to manage his fitness.

With so much depth available, it makes sense for Sane to sit this one out.

 David Silva

Another player that has featured very frequently this season.

David Silva is no spring chicken anymore, and so he needs to be carefully managed.

Like Sane, he has a ton of other players vying for a spot in the first team in place of him, so perhaps it would be time for them to get a chance.

Man City have some big fixtures coming up, and Silva’s leadership will be vital in those games.
