When Jose Mourinho came through the Old Trafford door in the summer a fair few things were expected to happen.

Our resident Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern were expecting him to make some typical Mourinho changes and so far we’ve seen at least some come to pass.

We expected him to sign big names and he’s certainly done that whilst most expected to ruffle a few feathers and it’s pretty safe to say he’s done that too.

We thought Juan Mata could leave but so far he is still in a red shirt whilst we also wondered whether United would become title challengers again, so far they are not.

Finally we thought about whether or not he would employ youth more this season and it has to be said the jury is still out.

Whilst he’s played the likes of Marcus Rashford you have to say that’s a no brainer, and the other United youngsters haven’t had as much of a look in.

It’s for that reason, then, our landlord reckons these TWO players should move away from the club to fulfil their potential…

Fosu-Mensah has the potential to be a Premier League defender but he needs to start playing regularly somewhere, even in a division below the top flight, to start learning the ropes properly.

Whilst playing in the Europa League will give some experience it’s nowhere near frequent enough for a player who, at this stage in his career, needs to be learning as much as possible.

Some kind of move is needed.
