The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have not been overly impressed with Jose Mourinho’s maiden campaign at Old Trafford and with a place in the top four under serious threat, the Portuguese manager has it all to do to rescue the campaign.
One thing that has disgruntled the United faithful this season is the former Chelsea boss’ unwillingness to play the club’s younger players, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard only playing bit-part roles during the campaign.
The Red Devils have a proud history of giving some of the club’s academy prospects the chance to perform at Premier League level and in that department the club does appear to be going backwards under Mourinho.
Our landlord has been talking to some of the ardent United fans here in the Tavern and they informed him of two players who should be fast-tracked closer to first-team football after impressing in the development squads.
Axel Tuanzebe

The defender has featured for the first-team during the FA Cup this season and he does look set for a bright future in the game if he continues his current development.
The 19-year-old should be featuring more often especially now that Chris Smalling is nursing an injury but it remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho sees fit to do so.
One United fan is sat basking in the sunshine in the Tavern’s beer garden and he agrees that Tuanzebe possesses all the attributes to be a star for the club.
Matt Olosunde

The American could well learn a great deal from playing in the same squad as current right wing-back Antonio Valencia and his performances for the club’s reserves have been impressive to say the least.
The youngster possesses lightening speed and a good eye for a pass, which would make him a decent backup player for Valencia, as he looks to learn his way of playing English football.
One United fan is tucking into his all-day breakfast here in the Tavern and he thinks that Olosunde would learn loads from Valencia, stating that if Mourinho had anything about him, he would get the full-back training with the first-team squad now.
