Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can secure another season in the Premier League, as they’ll look to improve on the current campaign.
Rafa Benitez has been a frustrated figure at times this season with negative results causing all sorts of problems, but it appears that the Magpies are finally beginning to find their feet as survival now looks likely. Indeed, Newcastle United were dominant in their last Premier League encounter, as they ended Mauricio Pellegrino’s reign as Southampton boss with a 3-0 win at St James’ Park.
However, Newcastle United have problems of their own with a couple of players still not living up to expectations, as it looks like there’ll be some movement on the departure front in the summer months. Although, with eight games still to play in the current campaign, Benitez could look to hand a couple of underperforming players a few opportunities to impress.
Therefore, here’s a look at TWO Newcastle United players that are surely playing for their futures under Benitez…
Ayoze Perez

Ayoze Perez has had a season to forget for Newcastle United as one of club’s ineffective strikers, having only managed to contribute four goals in what’s been a disastrous campaign.
Indeed, the forward has struggled to live up to expectations so far this season, as many of our locals believe that he’s heading for a summer exit if he doesn’t start producing for the side.
Therefore, Perez needs to get his act together from here on in until the end of the season, as Rafa Benitez won’t be afraid to get rid of any dead weight in the summer transfer window.
Joselu

The former Stoke City striker has been one of the worst signings in the club’s history, as he continues to produce lacklustre performances for the Magpies.
Indeed, many of our local residents believe that it will take a miracle for Joselu to save his Newcastle United career, after making such a poor account of himself up to this point.
Therefore, Joselu will need to find his goalscoring touch from here on in until the end of the season, as a summer transfer window exit is already looking likely for the 27-year-old.
