Blues fans here in the Tavern are preparing for a flurry of business moves at Cobham, as the January transfer window edges ever closer.
Chelsea have always been one of the sides drawing in the highlights of previous transfer windows, with the signing of Alvaro Morata and the exit of Oscar exceeding transfer expectations over the last two transfer windows.
After 11 games being played so far this season, not everything has been perfect at the Bridge. Which, by going on past actions, in Antonio Conte’s ambitions and Roman Abramovic desire to succeed, means some important business can be expected.
With some evident improvements needed in the side, Conte will be looking to strengthen his options, with a whole host of names already being linked with the Blues. One man in particular who’s being urged for a move to Stamford Bridge is Spanish wizard Isco, as his national teammate Alvaro Morata has supported the move.
The potential arrival in this area could spell the end for one player in particular… Willian. He’s been heavily out of favour so far this season under the Italian, as he spends most of his time living life on the bench. So for players and the staff scouting team to be on the hunt for another attacking midfielder, it looks as if the Brazilian’s time in London is about to draw to a close.
So with Chelsea looking to cut off dead weight and replace it with fresh new talent, here’s TWO players who could potentially follow Willian out of the Bridge…
Michy Batshuayi
The Belgian international is one of the astonishingly effective players linked with an exit from the Bridge, with Conte making some debatable judgments as to his playing time. While he remains somewhat inconsistent, being able to call on his services from the bench is a huge boost.
For the club too, having seen the departures of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah come back to bite them in the past, could this potentially be another one that slips under the net?
Having scored in as many games as he’s played (8), you’d think he’d take the form of their leading striker, but with Conte never truly being convinced by him, his time may be up.
David Luiz
The Brazilians haven’t exactly enjoyed the best of times under Conte, firstly Oscar, now Willian and David Luiz are seemingly out of favor.
Having provided some important goals and solid performances for the club both in Europe and domestically so far this season, Luiz got into a spat with gaffer Conte after the dismal loss to Roma recently. That caused a huge drama to unfold, with the player being dropped from the side for his actions.
So having not fully resolved the situation between the two, his Chelsea career looks to be on the rocks. Including the recent links that suggest Spanish giants Barcelona are taking an interest in the central defender.
For any player it’s difficult to gain any game time under a manager that isn’t fully supportive of you and your abilities, so a move away from the Bridge looks the likelier option.
