Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to feel alarmingly familiar with how things are going this season and hope some January dealings can help put a stop to that.
After starting this season well, recent results have suggested that the club’s players still do not have the stomach for the fight in a Premier League title race and they once again look to be set to fall short.
Losses at Everton and Manchester City smacked of mental frailties whilst their 3-3 draw at Bournemouth, whilst entertaining, was another dent in their bid this season.
There’s been calls, then, here in the Transfer Tavern, that the club sign new players and it appears they’ve been heard with Ricardo Pereira being linked with the club by The Daily Star.
Our landlord doesn’t think it will end there, though, and reckons these two players might just follow him through the Emirates door…
Miralem Pjanic

According to The Sun, the Gunners are interested in signing the Bosnian international from Juventus.
Santi Cazorla is the main man for the Emirates in terms of dictating the tempo and controlling football matches but he is nearing the end of his career. As well as that, he’s getting injured a fair bit and our landlord reckons signing someone of the calibre of Pjanic would certainly be a decent looking deal.
Ricardo Rodriguez

Arsenal really do need a left back.
We’ve seen a number of times this season that Nacho Monreal gets caught out down that side whilst Kieran Gibbs evidently isn’t good enough to replace him. A new left sided defender has to be high on Wenger’s shopping list, then, and according to The Sun, they are in a duel with Chelsea to get Rodriguez in.
