The Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are becoming eager for Benitez to cut off any dead weight as they seek the addition of new players.
After the impressive start that The Toon Army have made they’re seeking to build from this as we all know how quickly things can change in the Premier League.
In what is a very thin squad, it’s quite visible to see the men that are in his thoughts going forward as he begins to sideline out any individuals that don’t fit the pipeline he’s running on Tyneside. With the January transfer window on the horizon, it’s only a matter of time before some players are saying their goodbyes to the Premier League.
Benitez is a very ambitious man, so for someone who isn’t being given the sufficient funds he’s required, he is finding himself dipping into the sales market as he looks to offload an unwanted weight.
Aleksandar Mitrovic, the Serbian forward who after firing in previous seasons has lost his way for the Tyneside club this season as he struggles with a measly 1 goal for the club in what was his one and only appearance.
This is clearly a man who Benitez doesn’t see in his plans but has already attracted attention from Premier League strugglers Brighton as they look to prepare a bid to bring the Serbian to the Amex.
So, with one man possibly out the door, a back up striker is something that Benitez will definitely look in to as he goes in search of curing his forwards goal drought.
In a squad that has players living in the fringes, there’s no question that there will be people hitting the exit door.
So that’s why we take a look at the players who will possibly be taking the first train out of Newcastle…
Dwight Gayle

Having set the Championship a light last season as he became the top goalscorer on their way to securing the title, Gayle is a popular figure amongst the Geordie contingent in our bar.
However, of recent times this man has struggled to even make a consistent amount of starts for the club as Benitez favours Ayoze Perez as of late. So, with the prolific striker waiting in the wings at Newcastle it looks as if he will be on his way out as he goes in search of consistent first-team football.
After attracting the attention of a whopping £15 million pounds bid from Fulham in the summer, it looks as if this man is set to attract more attention as we head into the upcoming months. For a player as prolific as this man is, eyebrows have been raised as to why he hasn’t been able to nail down a full time position at the club.
The Englishman can offer you an electric burst of speed, a player who many defenders would describe as a nuisance as he doesn’t give them a second of rest while offering a guaranteed return of goals.
With half of the Championship surely watching him closely, the future looks bright for the 27-year-old.
Mohamed Diame

The Senegalese international has struggled to find any way into the side after being one of the more important and vital ingredients to the winning recipe in the Championship.
After countless years of experience in the Premier League for this man, the mystery is yet to be solved as to why Benitez hasn’t included the midfielder in his plans. In what has been a very chopped and changed midfield for the Toon Army, the 30-year-old has been on the fringes as he looks to force a way in.
The midfield anchorman offers a range of attributes moving forward, by using his pace and endurance to get backwards and forwards as he offers the attack added support.
So with this man in an unfavourable position as of late, it is yet to be seen as to whether Benitez will gain the trust in this midfielder to provide a consistency in performance.
At the moment, it doesn’t seem like he has all too much future at St. James’ Park.
So Newcastle fans, would you like to see the back of these two men?
