The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the next Premier League season…

Last season was a campaign to forget for the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger’s side faltering to a finish outside of the top four for the first time in recent memory.

As a result, the players are likely desperate for a chance to right their wrongs and return to the Premier League with a strong campaign.

However, before the start of the campaign proper, the Gunners have the chance to take part in the annual league curtain raiser – with a clash against Chelsea set to take place on Sunday to contest the Community Shield.

It will be a tough ask for the Gunners to beat the reigning Premier League champions, but Arsene Wenger has a number of players to choose from, though he must ensure that he picks the right side.

 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has yet to sign a new deal at Arsenal, and so his future is very much uncertain.

However, his performances during pre-season have been nothing short of fantastic – with the Englishman delivering a number of fine displays on the right-hand side of a five man defence.

With Hector Bellerin likely short of match fitness, the Englishman will need to make the step up, and a good performance could put him in a great position ahead of the new campaign.

 Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette’s signing has brought a lot of excitement to the fans in the Transfer Tavern, with the Frenchman putting in a number of good performances over the summer.

He hasn’t set the world alight in front of goal yet, but with a few games under his belt, Wenger should look to embed him into the side on Sunday.

A game against one of the Premier League’s best sides will help get him accustomed to life in England, and a good performance could set him up nicely.
