Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are enduring mixed feelings ahead of this weekend’s tie against Leicester City.
They could only draw 1-1 with Celtic in the Champions League in the week and despite a decent start to the Premier League this season, you get the feeling there is better to come from the Citizens.
But after having Sergio Aguero sent off in the game against Chelsea last weekend, Pep Guardiola will have to reshuffle his pack for the tie against Premier League champions Leicester City.
Still, even without the Argentine available for the tie, fans here in the pub generally seem confident that the Citizens will get a result against the Foxes, who have been struggling for form in the league.
With the league as competitive as ever, there are a couple of players who the punters in the Tavern feel should be starting the game against Claudio Ranieri’s side.
So with that in mind, here are TWO players that surely have to start for Manchester City against the Foxes…
Yaya Toure
Wasn’t in the squad for the game against Celtic but after his recent performances in the league, we think Yaya Toure should be starting the game against Leicester City.
He brings so much muscle, guile and power to the Manchester City midfield and he’s a real asset to Pep Guardiola’s side.
With the dispute with him, his agent and the club behind him, he’s certainly a player that can bring some class to the City side for the second half of the season.
Kelechi Iheanacho
Kelechi Iheanacho scored yet another goal in the 1-1 draw with Celtic on Tuesday evening and it’s yet another sign that the Nigerian has what it takes to lead the line in Sergio Aguero’s absence.
He took his goal very well against the Hoops and he’ll bring plenty of pace and directness to the City forward line.
He’s got lots to prove and will need to take his big chance in the City side if he has any chance of breaking in fully in the future.
