Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern has, like many of our Red Devils punters, been rather underwhelmed with the start Manchester United have made under Jose Mourinho this season.

This weekend they face Tottenham at the Theatre of Dreams and a win will be vital in order to not lose ground on the battle for the top four.

Last time out United were unlucky, as they have been in many games before, not to win due a silly mistake by Marouane Fellaini as his concession of a penalty cost them all three points against Everton.

With that in mind, and a number of other comical errors in recent games from certain players, it’s important that Mourinho makes some changes to the team to cut out the mistakes ahead of the game against Spurs.

So with our landlord expecting changes, he reckons these 2 players surely have to start for Man Utd against Tottenham…

Eric Bailly

Before his recent injury, Bailly was a rock at the back for United who have looked weaker at the back with him out.

The club have had to play Marcos Rojo as a makeshift centre half so, with the Ivorian earning comparisons from our punters to United legend Nemanja Vidic, it’s easy to see why many Red Devils fans were delighted to see his name back on the bench at Everton. He simply has to start because he is top class already.

Jesse Lingard

With Anthony Martial struggling this season at times, Jesse Lingard has had an increased chance to shine and our landlord reckons he deserves another run-out against the Lilywhites. He’s the kind of player that thrives when confident and so Mourinho needs to make use of that at the moment because he is brimming.

The young England international has been superb when called upon this season and should get the nod for this crucial game at Old Trafford this weekend.
