Rangers are having a tough time of it at the moment but there’s still some optimism here in the Transfer Tavern that Mark Warburton’s departure can help turn things around and pick up as much ground on Celtic as possible.

The Gers are someway behind in the race for the title and their supporters have realised that this season, the league crown might just be a little out of reach.

But the need to finish second is as big as ever and Gers fans here in the pub think European football is a must if the club is to get back on its feet and back to where they belong.

However, with things still needing to improve going forward, there’s still a handful of things that could really ruin Rangers’ chances of finishing as high up the table as possible.

So with that in mind, here’s two things that could still ruin Rangers’ season further after a campaign of upheaval…

Injuries to key forwards

In seasons past, we’ve seen Rangers bang in goal after goal as they made their way back to the top division in Scotland but this campaign, goals have been a lot harder to come by.

They’ve relied heavily on Kenny Miller to get the goals up front, whilst the likes of Barrie McKay have chipped in on occasions too. But injuries to any of Rangers’ big forwards could be disastrous to their season and could jeopardise their chances of finishing in second place behind Celtic.

Not getting the fans back onside

These are a big couple of months coming up for Rangers after the recent turmoil involving Mark Warburton and his tumultuous departure from the club.

The fans have certainly been left unimpressed with recent events, too, and so winning them over has to be the priority now. The Gers’ faithful are the heartbeat of the club and they’ve been through some tough times in recent years so they deserve better than what they’ve seen in the last few weeks.

The club need to get the fans back onside or it could derail their season.
