Arsene Wenger has just celebrated his 20th anniversary at Arsenal, so naturally there have been plenty of toasts afforded to him here in the Transfer Tavern.

He’s seen a fair deal of great players over the years too, and our resident Gunners punters have been quick to reminisce and remind everyone else by the bar just the kind of stars they’ve seen grace the pitch over the last two decades.

In midfield they’ve had the likes of Patrick Vieira, Gilberto Silva and Robert Pires all stand out as shining lights but what they won’t be as keen to tell you about is some of the worst players that have been in the middle of the park.

Luckily, for everyone else, our landlord has a cracking memory, and reckons these THREE midfielders are the worst to have played for Arsenal in the last ten years…….

Andrey Arshavin

The Russian came to Arsenal in a January transfer window surrounded by huge excitement over his potential but gradually, that fell away.

He may have scored four against Liverpool in one game but he simply didn’t want to work at his talent, and that attitude eventually saw him ousted from the club.

On paper it looked like a good deal but it turned out to be anything but.

Denilson

Denilson had the potential to be a good player but just didn’t seem to progress in the manner you’d have expected him to do.

The Brazilian eventually came out of the side despite making a fair amount of appearances for the club because, ultimately, he had neither the physical or technical ability to truly compete in a Premier League midfield.

Kim Kallstrom

This was a pretty baffling one.

Arsenal were challenging for the title in 2013/14 but decided that a well over-the-hill Kallstrom would be the best option to strengthen their charge.

They were, of course, wrong and despite the Swede being a decent player in his pomp he never really got near to replicating that in his short spell with the Gunners.
