Arsenal have a wealth of stars and our Gunners punters in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see them get it right this year to win the Premier League title.
Players like Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey have reputations that proceed themselves and naturally when they click in the Gunners midfield, there are very few teams in Europe that can live with them.
Then in goal you have Petr Cech who has been at the top of his game for well over a decade and Laurent Koscielny who is, on his day, a world-class centre half.
Meanwhile up top, you have arguably their best player in Alexis Sanchez whose work-rate and sheer talent combined make him a nightmare for defenders.
All these players deserve the plaudits they get of course, but what about the Gunners unsung heroes? Our landlord certainly thinks there’s THREE that deserve more credit, what do you think?
Hector Bellerin
Koscielny gets the label of Arsenal’s best defender but Bellerin has all the attributes to contest that in the near future.
The Gunners did well to keep hold of him for this season because judging by his rate of progression, he’s going to be a real star.
He gets forward at the right times and his timing of the challenge is impeccable, so he really does deserve to be considered as one of Arsenal’s most important stars.
Francis Coquelin
The French holding player has never really received much praise, but he carries out the job asked of him with minimal fuss.
He battles away in the midfield whilst the rest around him want to do the glamorous stuff and provides a good base for his team.
He may find it hard to start every game now Granit Xhaka has signed, but if he ousts the Swiss international that’ll speak real volumes.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
‘The Ox’ is hugely underrated and would be an absolute star if he could just stay fit.
He doesn’t carry the big name of your Ozil’s or Sanchez’s nor the price tag but he never gives up and is always going to put a shift in.
Throw into the bargain that he’s actually a highly talented and versatile footballer, the Gunners should try and make as much use of him as possible whilst they still have him.
