Over the years, Arsene Wenger has had mixed results in his pursuit of top quality Premier League level players.
He has, certainly, had a few hits – but for every hit there have been more than a few misses.
As a result of those mistakes, there are a number of players in the Arsenal squad that would certainly be a better fit in a lower division – with the Championship being one example.
Permanent moves are also not the only departures on the table. There are also a couple of players that are simply not good enough to play for Arsenal yet, and they must move down in order to grow.
With that said, here are THREE Arsenal players should really be playing in the Championship….
Yaya Sanogo
An obvious one to start out with.
Yaya Sanogo has never looked good enough to play for Arsenal.
His signing raised some eyebrows in the Tavern even when it happened – and his performances since have done very little to change that.
A couple of loans have proved that the Premier League is simply not his level, and he will be forced to move down a league if he wants to get regular game time.
A Championship move could be perfect.
Emiliano Martinez
Emiliano Martinez has the unfortunate job of being 3rd choice goalkeeper at Arsenal – and as a result, his game time has been severely limited.
With Petr Cech and David Ospina firmly ahead of the Argentinian keeper, he doesn’t look set to get much of a look-in this season – and he will likely have to drop down a league before he finds a club that he could reliably find weekly game time.
During several Football League loans the 24-year-old failed to particularly impress – and in the Championship he found his level.
If he wants game time – a drop down to the Championship is essential.
Jeff Reine-Adelaide
Jeff Reine-Adelaide has all the talent in the world – but at this point he is not good enough to be playing in the Premier League.
At just 18 years old, it is essential that Adelaide gets regular game time in order to fully complete his development – and that is not something that will be available at Arsenal.
Our landlord thinks that a season long loan move to a Championship side could do wonders for the Frenchman, and will allow him to not only get regular game time – but also get used to the physicality of the English Leagues.
It should definitly be a short term deal, but a move to the Championship could be great for Adelaide.
