With Manchester United bringing in Jose Mourinho as their new manager, the fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t stop talking about who might be coming into the club.
The Portuguese is tasked with returning the club to the top of the Premier League and will have an idea of where he wants to improve a squad, that has failed to live up to the Manchester United name in recent seasons.
Mourinho is a serial title winner and has won things wherever he’s been.
In Portugal, England, Italy and Spain he has been successful and we could see him use his knowledge of these leagues in particular as he looks to build his title challengers for 2016/17.
Mourinho took arguably the biggest job in club football when he managed Real Madrid as he won La Liga, and he could be looking at Spain to bring in some marquee signings this Summer.
Our landlord thinks this could happen and so here are THREE players from Spain Mourinho should sign….
Antoine Griezmann
Aside from the obvious stars of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann was arguably the best player in La Liga last season.
The France international fired Atletico Madrid close to the title and another Champions League final which they narrowly lost and he may feel now it’s time for a new challenge.
He’s a fantastic player and there’s plenty more to come from him.
Raphael Varane
Mourinho signed Varane from Lens when he was at Real and you can see why.
The Frenchman has been unlucky with injury hampering his playing time but when fit he pushes for a start ahead of Pepe and Sergio Ramos, and that’s only going to increase as he gets older.
Varane will want assurances over his starting spot but if manager Zinedine Zidane can’t afford him that a link up with Mourinho would be the ideal option.
Grzegorz Krychowiak
Mourinho loves having a player that can protect his defenders in the holding role.
Think Claude Makelele at Chelsea in his first spell at Stamford Bridge or Nemanja Matic in his second.
He’ll no doubt be looking for someone who can do this at United and the Sevilla man Krychowiak could be the answer.
The Poland international breaks play up brilliantly and also has a thunderous shot on him, he’d be perfect at Old Trafford.
