These 3 Man United players are criminally overrated – Agreed?

Man United have had a decent start to the season and the Red Devils fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with how things are going so far! Phew!

As starts go, it’s been as solid as it gets for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, who have bagged a maximum nine points from three games.

The Red Devils have enjoyed victories over Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City and whilst there are undoubtedly tougher tests on the near horizon it’s been a productive start to the new campaign.

And whilst the likes of Ibrahimovic and Rashford have shone, just as we would have expected, some of United’s star players haven’t quite made the cut so far.

Whether it’s just a slow start or whether there is something else at hand might not be known, but it’s pretty obvious there is a certain amount of deadwood still in this squad.

With transfer day having been and gone, it’s too late for Mourinho to axe these underperforming stars so unfortunately, he’s stuck with them for the long while!

So who are we talking about here? Transfer Tavern guru Hayden Atkins takes us through the THREE most overrated United stars of this season….

Wayne Rooney

Rooney

Loved by United fans, disliked by everyone else here in the Tavern – it sure is difficult being Wayne Rooney.

But he’s one of United’s current crop that hasn’t had the best of seasons and we saw a pretty forgettable performance in the game against the Tigers.

There were plenty of misplaced passes and he just didn’t seem up to the pace of some of his colleagues.

It’s easy to believe that people still like Wayne Rooney because it’s Wayne Rooney. If it was Fellaini who was misplacing passes, would the United crowd be so forgiving? Absolutely not.

Anthony Martial

Martial 4

Another star that was completely ineffective in the Hull game.

You’ve got to feel for the lad, he’s constantly being asked to play out of position but when you’ve got the depth United have upfront, it’s always going to be a struggle.

But playing out of position is something that can ruin careers – just ask poor Theo Walcott – he’s suffered with it for years.

Martial is normally quick, energetic and exciting. But if he’s not careful he could lose his place in the side to natural flanker Henrikh Mkhitaryan and then he’ll face an uphill struggle to get back in the side.

Paul Pogba

pogba

This one may come as a bit of a surprise to all the die hard United faithful out there but hear us out.

For a player that was sold for £800,000 and then brought back for £89million, you’d expect near-perfection, or at least I would anyway.

Pogba has been solid enough, busying himself in the middle of the park but as game changers go, we just haven’t seen a majestic performance just yet.

It may be a matter of time and then it might continue but he’s been a little quiet since his move. Slightly overrated? Perhaps.
