Jose Mourinho has brought in some of the best players in world football to help his cause, and our landlord is touting United to go all the way this season.
But it isn’t just new signings that Mourinho has provided to his new club; he has also managed to get the best out of what he already has available to him.
Players like Fellaini and Valencia have found a new lease on life under the Portuguese boss – and that can only be a good thing for the United fans in the Tavern.
Nonetheless, there are some players that, even with hours on the training field, will never be of the standard that Manchester United demand.
In fact, our landlord thinks there are a number of players that are simply not good enough to wear the shirt.
With that said, these three Man United players are out of their depth – Agreed?
Phil Jones
Despite impressing during his opening few months as a United player, Phil Jones has largely failed to live up the expectations placed upon his shoulders by the Man Utd faithful here in the Tavern.
Injuries have played their part, but at this point Phil Jones is nothing more than a backup player at United at best. He simply isn’t good enough to start.
Our landlord thought he might be sold this summer, having not yet made an appearance this season – but he looks set to remain at United until January at the earliest.
However, Jones will never be a starter at United again – he is playing out of his depth.
Ashley Young
Another player that is definitely playing out of his depth is Ashley Young.
Since joining United he has been nothing more than a squad player, rarely getting an extended spell in the first team – particularly in the last few years.
Young has been left behind by the quality of player that Mourinho has brought in this summer, and this season he looks unlikely to make more than a handful of appearances for the United first team.
The deal to bring him to United was questionable at the time, but in recent years Young’s form has dramatically decreased.
Our landlord thinks it’s time for Young to move on.
Marcos Rojo
It has never really worked out for Marcos Rojo at Man Utd.
Brought in by Louis Van Gaal, Rojo was expected to become a real fixture in the heart of the club’s defence; but that just hasn’t happened.
Numerous off the field incidents have definitely contributed, but the Man Utd faithful here in the Tavern have truly given up on him at this point.
It appears unlikely that he will ever get a start in a Man Utd shirt ever again. He simply is not good enough.
