Here in the Transfer Tavern, our local Manchester United punters are relatively happy with their squad.

You’d expect them to be, after a sensational outlay on new players in the summer but arguably some of them are still finding their feet.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, for example, hasn’t yet hit the heights for United that he did for former club Borussia Dortmund whilst the world’s most expensive footballer, Paul Pogba, has also yet to set the Premier League on fire.

Nevertheless, these two are top class players and it surely won’t be long before they treat us all to what they can do.

On the other hand though, there are some players United have that arguably won’t ever be good enough for the club, or even the Premier League.

Our landlord can think of THREE players that United have that should actually be in the Championship – what do you think?

Sergio Romero

Romero is a bit of an odd player for United.

He’s never ever going to get in ahead of David De Gea and when United do give the Spaniard a rest, he often sees Sam Johnstone get in ahead of him.

He’s played for Argentina so must have something but he wouldn’t get into any Premier League side and that’s why he should take a drop down.

Jesse Lingard

Lingard has talent, make no mistake.

The problem with is that first of all he’s not good enough to get into United’s first team and when he does get the chance he seems to be buckling under the pressure to succeed.

A stint in the Championship away from the limelight could do him a world of good and allow him to make mistakes without getting battered for it.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Fosu-Mensah, like Lingard isn’t really good enough at the moment to play for United and must surely be thinking about dropping down a level where he’d no doubt play week in week out.

Players of his age need to just play as much as possible to develop and, at the moment, that looks a long way off from happening at the Red Devils.
