Jordon Ibe has joined Bournemouth from Liverpool for a fee of £15 million and the Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see the amount they have got for a fringe player!
Ibe joined the Reds as a youngster and was expected to be of similar standing to Raheem Sterling in coming through to the senior side, but didn’t manage to reach those heights and Jurgen Klopp has now deemed him surplus to requirements at Anfield.
Ibe is a decent Premier League player and may turn out to do well for the Cherries but this move clearly indicates Klopp wants to sign players who are of a slightly better ability, and that suit his playing style as he looks to change the club’s fortunes.
The German has been at the club since last October and will now have a good idea of who else he wants to move on to take the team forward, and our landlord has a good idea of who could be going too, starting with this THREE…
Christian Benteke
It’s unfortunate for Benteke because he’s been largely a round peg in a square hole.
Signed by manager Brendan Rodgers, the Belgian was meant to give the Reds a different plan of action up top if things weren’t going their way but the team never did come up of how to utilise that plan.
This has all snowballed to leave a striker bereft of confidence who must move on as he doesn’t seem to fit Klopp’s style either.
Lucas Leiva
The Brazilian is one of the senior statesmen at the club now but could find his stay at Liverpool coming to an end soon.
He’s been a good servant to the club but with Klopp’s preference to have fast, aggressive midfielders he could find himself trying to adapt to a game plan that simply isn’t in his profile.
Lucas was used as a make-shift centre half at the end of last season, but you can bet Liverpool would rather play orthodox defenders there and so it could be time to find a new club.
Adam Bogdan
Another Rodgers signing Bogdan hasn’t impressed in his handful of appearances at the club.
The Hungarian came in from Bolton Wanderers and as harsh as it may sound that is the level he should be at.
Of course it’s not his fault he was brought to the club but with his current manager bringing in Loris Karius, as well as Simon Mignolet competing for the number one spot, Bogdan will be on his way soon.
