United fans here in the Tavern are eager for the start of the January transfer window, with Jose Mourinho looking to get rid of any dead-weight.
Mourinho has never been shy to spend in his managerial career as he became the first manager to spend over £1 billion in the transfer market, after the £75 million purchase of Lukaku in the summer.
However, with not all of his business being worthy of praise there’s going to be some that just don’t work out for his side, but it’s these flops that can potentially cause problems in the future.
Although the Red Devils here in the Tavern believe that if they’re to secure a Champions League spot then they’ll need to get rid of any players that may halt their progress, in order to make room for some added quality.
Indeed, this is the ‘special one’, a man who keeps his cards very close to his chest, but isn’t afraid to show his heartfelt opinion on the so-called ‘slackers’ in the team.
Nevertheless, with a transfer window clear-out expected, here’s a look at TWO men who will be walking looking elsewhere in January.
Marouane Fellaini
Belgian Marouane Fellaini has been one of the most mentioned topics in Premier League football, whether it’s a flying elbow, red card or a sloppy performance, he’s had it all.
Although he’s produced some key goals for the Manchester club over the years, his time at Old Trafford looks like coming to a close with him struggling to find a place in the new system that Mourinho operates with.
With not as many appearances coming his way in comparison to seasons before, it’s looking as if Fellaini’s chances of a future at the club are looking very slim.
Matteo Darmian
Matteo Darmian was already at the club when Jose Mourinho joined in 2016, but since taking over he hasn’t really been able to find a way into the United side, especially after seeing Ashley Young’s performances this season.
Although he’s made a substantial amount of appearances so far this campaign he’s been less than impressive, with one notable sloppy performance against Liverpool at Anfield seeing Mohamed Salah run him ragged.
Therefore, with a settled defender on either flank, it’s caused for the Italian giants Napoli to come calling for the out of favour man, condemning any hopes of a future in Manchester.
