Every side needs an injection of experience in their side which is exactly what the Brazilian provides, with Gary Cahill being the only real experienced central-defender in the Chelsea side, it automatically boosts the Brazilians importance to the club.

Having won some major honours in his footballing career, he’s proven he can do it on the European stage as well as domestically, after securing a Europa League medal with the club, he’s gone on to win the Champions League, Premier League and the FA Cup during his time at the Bridge.

So for a man that really has won it all with Chelsea, his experience can go a long way to helping not only fellow defenders, but also the youth products that filter through.

Perfect back-up

With injuries always a managers worst fear, it’s important that a side has enough dependable back-up if they’re required to step in.

There isn’t a much more versatile player to fill the void in the heart of the defence than this man David Luiz, offering experience, aerial ability, passing ranges, scoring threat, passion and fight, he’s as well-rounded as they get.

Now also having the ability to fill in at the centre of midfield having been tried and trusted there during parts of last season, its evident that the Brazilian has lots to offer for a Chelsea side that does have the risk of losing their ageing captain Gary Cahill to injury.
