These Celtic fans destroy Tom Rogic for display vs RB Salzburg

Celtic fans will be breathing a sigh of relief this morning after scraping through into the knockout phase of the Europa League by the skin of their teeth.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were staring elimination in the face before a late Rosenborg equaliser in Leipzig sent the Scottish giants through.

Feelings were conflicted at the final whistle after qualifying for the next round as Celtic were far from their best at Celtic Park.

RB Salzburg, far and away the superior team in this group, as results have shown, were a class above the Hoops and thoroughly deserved their 2-1 victory.

Despite Salzburg’s quality, there were plenty of Celtic players who were found wanting, including Celtic Park favourite Tom Rogic.

The Australian midfielder has often been lauded as something of a wizard, with long-range strikes and an aesthetically pleasing left-footed technique regularly catching the eye.

But Rogic turned from hero to zero last night following an underwhelming performance, and the supporters did not hold back in their criticism on Twitter.

Indeed, Rogic’s apparent absence from proceedings was alluded to by plenty of supporters, while others simply couldn’t understand why Rodgers afforded him a rare 90 minutes.
