West Ham United suffered their second defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the space of eleven days yesterday evening as two goals from Son Heung-min helped the visitors on their way to a 3-1 victory.
Mauricio Pochettino was forced to field a slightly make-shift starting eleven against the Hammers last night in Tottenham’s 2nd fixture in as many days, but they still had enough to beat a West Ham side who were close to full strength.
It was a bitterly disappointing evening for Manuel Pellegrini and the supporters as the Carabao Cup offered a huge opportunity for the club to clinch silverware this season, and they will have to wait until their FA Cup campaign gets underway in January before they can dream of a Wembley final.
In the aftermath of proceedings, plenty of supporters took to Twitter to vent their frustrations about a handful of players, and one man who came in for particularly strong criticism was Michail Antonio (valued at £13.5 million by Transfermarkt).
The versatile midfielder started on the left-wing last night but he failed to provide any genuine spark in the final-third. Antonio has always been regarded as a willing runner and a strong physical presence, but his overall lack of flair has forced the supporters to call for his departure.
Indeed, it seems that the fans are at the end of their tether with Antonio after more than three years with the club following his dismal performance against Tottenham.
Here’s what the Hammers faithful on Twitter have had to say about Antonio’s future…

Antonio, ogbonna, obiang, masuaku and I’ll even say chicharito I would happily see leave in January. The younger lads have some real talent.

Antonio would struggle to get into my Sunday league team

Fastest I see @Michailantonio move was getting off the pitch at the end of the match. Liability. Sell him to palace.

Antonio is well past his sell by date, get him out the club in January.
Grady Diangana has already shown enough glimpses of what he’s all about, not scared to take on a defender or 2, pace and skill.
