Celtic are flying towards the Scottish Premiership title and there’s little doubt among fans here in the Transfer Tavern that Moussa Dembele has more than played his part for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season.
The Bhoys are 27 points clear at the summit of the division and, apart from their early exit from the Champions League, this campaign has been excellent for the Bhoys
But looking ahead, things are surely set to change at Parkhead and one player who has been hotly tipped to move away is hot-shot striker Dembele.
The Frenchman has already scored a staggering 28 goals for Celtic in all competitions this campaign, which really is some return.
But with top sides likely to be chasing his signature soon, Hoops fans here in the Tavern are beginning to prepare for life without him.
So with that in mind, here are TWO possible replacements for Dembele at Celtic…
Connor Wickham
Connor Wickham is not having much joy at Selhurst Park this campaign and he’s struggling to get into the first-team to prove his potential.
At just 23, he’s certainly got time to establish himself at the top level, but with Christian Benteke proving to be an immovable object at Crystal Palace, a move away might be what’s needed.
Celtic might want to replace Dembele with another exciting youngster and by investing some money and time in Wickham, they could have the ideal replacement.
Fans here in the Tavern would welcome a player of Wickham’s calibre, especially as he tries his best to get back to the top level.
Wayne Rooney
My word, this would be a coup, but with Wayne Rooney’s future at Manchester United looking more and more bleak as the weeks go by, Celtic could certainly do far worse than attempting to bring in the forward this summer.
It’d be a massive statement for everyone at the club, and as one of the best strikers the world has ever seen, he’d bring massive quality and commercial boosts to Scotland if he does move north of the border.
He’s certainly the sort of player Celtic fans here in the Tavern would like to see, but it’d be the most ambitious move in the club’s history.
