This is the lethal Arsenal 2016/17 front four including Icardi and Higuain

Gunners fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting the club to go one further than last season, and finally win the Premier League in 2016/17 for the first time since 2003/04.

It’s been a case of too many false dawns at the club for the crowd’s liking with Arsene Wenger’s position looking increasingly untenable last year, as Leicester ran away with the league.

Nevertheless Wenger’s still in charge and there’s every chance he’s going to get it right once more if you read the reports concerning who he’s looking at signing.

Arsenal have always been associated with great attacking football under the Frenchman, but have arguably sometimes lacked that cutting edge at the front of the field to kill off games.

In Olivier Giroud, the Gunners have a forward that can look top draw some days and poor the next and that kind of inconsistency won’t win titles.

It appears though Wenger might have found the answer and our landlord thinks this is how his front four could look next year…..

Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean is a world class player and when he’s fit he makes Arsenal look almost impossible to beat.

The former Barcelona man runs his socks off, not giving defenders a moments peace and also has the added bonus of being able to score a lot of goals.

If he can stay fit for the whole season the Gunners have a real chance of sealing up the league title come next May.

Mesut Ozil

Ozil

Like Sanchez, when Ozil is on top form few players in the world can live with him.

At the start of last season he was unlocking defences with ease and looked set to break the assists total record in the Premier League, before juddering to a halt.

If the Gunners can keep the former Real Madrid man in tip-top condition they’ll be hard to stop, especially when he’s feeding this two…

Mauro Icardi

Mauro Icardi

The rumours that Icardi is on the brink of leaving Inter Milan seem to be growing in strength and Arsenal could be his destination.

A similar player to Sanchez in the sense that he won’t leave defenders alone whilst also carrying a goal threat means Premier League sides would have nightmares working out how to stop the Gunners going forward, especially when you consider this man could be joining him up top…

Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain

This could finally be Wenger’s last piece of the jigsaw. Arsenal have needed a genuine world class forward for some time and Higuain fits the bill.

36 goals in 35 Serie A games tells you all you need to know and with the likes of Sanchez, Ozil and Icardi buzzing around him he’d have an absolute field day.

If Arsenal get Higuain then surely they become the Premier League title favourites.
