Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League next season, and our punters here in the Tavern are looking forward to seeing if Jose Mourinho can wrestle the title back from old nemesis Pep Guardiola.

The Red Devils have had a good season in all fairness, and are on course to win the FA Cup once again, while they remain in pole position to land second spot behind City in the Premier League.

Our landlord has been impressed with some the performances United have put up, and despite having an excellent defence and goals being the main problem, he still feels that adding a world class centre back to the squad will breed confidence throughout the team.

United have always had top centre backs from the days of Steve Bruce, through to the likes of Jaap Stam, and later on Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, and having someone who can really dominate at the back is a massive boost for any team.

With that in mind, we think that this defender could be a superb summer signing at Old Trafford.

Toby Alderweireld

The Belgian defender has been superb for Spurs over the course of a number of seasons now, and a move to a club who can consistently capture trophies is surely not far away for Alderweireld.

A defender who is classy on the ball but equally strong and robust in the tackle, the Spurs man has been a big miss this season with his injuries which cost him a considerable amount of game time under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, he would slot in at United now he is back fit, and a partnership with Eric Bailly could be something United build a foundation for winning on for years to come.
