The Newcastle fans are in the Tavern in full force tonight, still relieved at being back in the Premier League again.`

Despite being a recently promoted side in the Premier League for next season, it is highly unlikely that Newcastle will even be brought up when discussing relegation.

The Magpies have a very good squad and a veteran manager in Rafa Benitez, who managed to get them back in the top flight the first time of asking.

Despite a strong squad, there are always going to be players who aren’t up to par for a Premier League side and Newcastle are no exception.

The dead weight will need to be removed in this transfer window to make way for new signings to bolster up the squad and give Newcastle the best chance of survival.

With that being said, here are the two players in the Newcastle side who are seriously out of their depth in the Premier League.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Reports have surfaced in recent days that Mitrovic has been offered to French league club, Lyon.

With a mere four goals in 25 league games last season, it is easy to see why he is being offered to other clubs.

Mitrovic has just never managed to get his Newcastle career going and should he move on, it would be the best for all parties.

Lyon need a new striker after Lacazette’s departure, and Newcastle need to stop paying Mitrovic’s wages for his little contribution to the side.

Jack Colback

When he signed in 2014, Jack Colback was a solid player to add to the Newcastle ranks.

However, if last season proved anything it’s how easily Colback can be replaced, not even making the match day squad on 12 separate occasions.

He has a lot of Premier League experience, but considering most of that came with Sunderland during their times of struggle, it doesn’t count for much.

Colback should look to move back down to the Championship, a league that suits him much better than the Premier League
