Time to sell up: Liverpool should seriously consider letting go of this star

Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly eager to see what their side is going to manage to do in the final days of the transfer market.

With them in the Champions League proper, now, fans are naturally expecting some late action from their club in the market and so it remains to be seen who Jurgen Klopp manages to sign – if he does get anyone.

For sure, he’ll likely be trying a few things but whilst we wait to see who comes in we also think it’s time that he lets a certain striker go – Divock Origi.

It’s getting to the stage in the Belgian’s career where, if he was going to make it at a massive club, he’d be leading the line for Liverpool as Romelu Lukaku does for Manchester United.

Instead, though, Origi has only shown flashes of what he can do and that frustrating inconsistency is not enough to represent a side like the Reds.

Indeed, he’s fallen down the pecking order this summer with Dominic Solanke looking ahead of him whilst Mo Salah is also going to play in attack before him for sure.

Daniel Sturridge is looking fit, too, and you could argue Danny Ings gets in before Origi whilst it’s obvious that Roberto Firmino is the main man right now.

For sure, then, only a player with real hunger and drive would get to the top of that pile and it’s highly unlikely that we’re going to see Origi show that. It’s time to sell up.
