It has been a terribly uneventful summer at West Brom, and the lack of noise coming from the West Brom corner of the Football Transfer Tavern suggests that they aren’t holding out much hope going forward.
Having failed to sign any players of note so far this summer, West Brom are quickly finding themselves at the top of a few prediction lists regarding who might be relegated over the coming 9 months.
Tony Pulis recently spoke of his desire to bring in up to five new players, but significantly less attention was placed on the side’s need to get rid of dead weight within the side.
West Brom had a distinctively average season last year, and they need to sell players that don’t prove their worth to the first team.
With that, here are THREE Players that Tony Pulis must sell before transfer deadline day……
Rickie Lambert
Despite proving a hit at Southampton several years ago, Rickie Lambert’s career has been on a downwards spiral since joining Liverpool and subsequently West Brom.
He has largely failed to solidify a spot in the West Brom first team, and given that he will turn 35 next year; it may be time for Rickie Lambert to move on.
He could do a job at a Premier League struggler or a Champion side pushing for promotion; but his time at West Brom appears at an end.
Jonas Olsson
A West Brom great, it is certainly disappointing to see the back of Jonas Olsson, but the time has come for his West Brom departure.
Defensively, West Brom were pretty poor last season, and Olsson in particular looked in pretty bad form for much of the season.
Like Lambert, Olsson is no youngster anymore, and will be turning 34 next season.
Pulis should look to the future and sell Olsson this summer, before he leaves next summer on a free transfer.
Saido Berahino
This one is sure to set off some glares from the West Brom faithful in the Football Transfer Tavern, but the deal simply makes sense.
Despite being hyped to the moon, Berahino has been terribly inconsistent and lacklustre in recent months – and given that a number of clubs have been interested around the £20 million mark; the deal to sell must go ahead.
If they can get a decent fee, Berahino should be axed by Pulis
