Tottenham fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are gloating after hearing the news from Goal – that Spurs have beaten Arsenal to the signing of Koln defender Kevin Wimmer.
Personal terms and a £4 million fee have been agreed between the north London club and Bundesliga outfit Koln, subsequently quashing any hopes of Arsene Wenger signing the 22-year-old star.
As our landlord here in the Tavern quips, the centre-back will help bolster the club’s back-line which has looked very shaky at times this season.
Wimmer is renowned for his ability to be comfortable with a ball at his feet, and is also very astute at commanding the defence – something Pochettino’s side are in desperate need of.
A plethora of Spurs fans over by the dartboard here in the Football Transfer Tavern hope the Austrian defender will shore up the defence, and become a partner to Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the defence for years to come.
