Tottenham Hotspur have focused much of their summer business on strengthening the spine of their squad.
Experienced goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka has arrived on a free transfer, while Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have bolstered the defence after joining from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.
Spurs have also spent heavily on Jan Paul van Hecke, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes as they look to challenge at the top end of the Premier League.
Attention is now turning towards the attack, with another high-profile target emerging.
Spurs Assert Interest in Gakpo
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have made their interest in Cody Gakpo known, although Liverpool have no intention of allowing the forward to leave this summer.
The Netherlands international remains under contract until 2030, and the Reds are understood to value him highly despite interest from their Premier League rivals.
Gakpo has scored 50 goals in 180 appearances for Liverpool since arriving from PSV in 2022 and remains an important part of the club’s long-term plans.
While the 27-year-old endured a quieter campaign last season, netting nine times after his 18-goal haul the previous year, Liverpool are not looking to cash in—especially after already losing Mohamed Salah earlier in the window.
With transfer fees continuing to rise across Europe, it would likely take an enormous offer for Liverpool to even consider changing their stance on the Dutch forward.
