Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is expected to sign a new contract with the club, that is according to a report from The Athletic, via @DailyHotspur.

The Belgian international’s current deal is set to expire in the summer (Transfermarkt) and there have therefore been question marks surrounding his future for a while now.
However, it seems as though the 32-year-old is set to follow his compatriot Toby Alderweireld in penning new terms at the north London club.
Vertonghen has been a loyal servant at Spurs, playing 301 times for them in all competitions since arriving from Ajax back in 2012 (Transfermarkt).
He has been a regular in the first team this season too, starting in 13 Premier League games and in three Champions League outings for the club (Transfermarkt).
However, despite his loyalty and the fact that he continues to play more often than not, it seems that plenty of Spurs fans aren’t too keen on him signing a new deal.
Many insist that the Belgian is now past his best and that the club should allow his deal to expire and let him move on.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
