Tottenham Hotspur secured a second successive Premier League victory on Sunday, beating Manchester City 2-0 at home.
Despite being under the cosh for large parts of the game, indeed City had 18 shots to Spurs’ three (BBC Sport), they managed to take all three points thanks to goals from Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min.
There were some outstanding performances, particularly defensively with Hugo Lloris producing a brilliant display and even saving a penalty from Ilkay Gundogan (Sky Sports).
However, one player who many fans on social media were quick to pile praise on was midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine made his loan move from Real Betis permanent last week (BBC Sport) and celebrated that by playing his part in the victory against City.
During the game, Lo Celso enjoyed 61 touches of the ball and played 42 accurate passes. Added to that, he also played one key pass, five accurate long balls and completed one successful dribble, whilst also putting in a shift defensively by winning two tackles, making two clearances and one interception (SofaScore).

His good work didn’t go unnoticed by many Spurs fans on Twitter, with several heaping praise on him after the game. One supporter compared him to ex-player Luka Modric, who also influenced matches during his time in north London. Indeed, during his last season at White Hart Lane, he scored four goals and averaged an impressive 2.6 key passes per Premier League game (via WhoScored).
You can have a look at what Tottenham fans have been saying about Lo Celso below…
Exactly Lo Celso is everything Eriksen was with the ball and everything Eriksen wasn’t without the ball his tenacity to tackle back and close down is clear for all to see and he really is some player and will only get better.
