Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu before the transfer deadline, that is according to Turkish news outlet Aksam via Ricky Sacks.
It is suggested that the Serie A outfit would want €20 million (£16.89m) for the 25-year-old and that Spurs would be willing to pay that for him. According to the report, Jose Mourinho has identified the player as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a move away this month (football.london).
The Turkey international joined Milan from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 and did pretty well in his first two seasons, scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists in the 17/18 campaign (Transfermarkt) before adding four goals and 13 assists in 18/19 (Transfermarkt).
This term has been more of a struggle for him, however, and despite starting 18 games in Serie A, he has managed to notch just two goals and one assist thus far (Transfermarkt).
It is perhaps because of his poor form this season that has led to many Spurs fans suggesting that they would not like to see Calhanoglu sign for them this month. Indeed many have taken to Twitter to urge the club not to bring the Turk in. Here is what some had to say…
