Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have slammed Serge Aurier’s season despite the full-back making four big chances on average per Premier League game, as per Sofascore.
A post from The Spurs Web on Twitter asked supporters to rate Aurier’s campaign out of 10 so far, which provoked some negative responses, both literally in terms of ratings and in the way the fans described him.
Perhaps the criticism is unfair given the Ivorian international’s stats so far in the top flight. He has been criticised especially for his defending but Aurier still averages 3.1 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per match, according to WhoScored. To put this into perspective, he makes more tackles than anyone else in the team and the other figures rank highly.

Offensively, he has four assists to his name and also averages 1.2 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per league game, again stats ranking amongst the highest out of his teammates, as per the website.
Despite this, many fans have slammed Aurier’s season and voiced their opinions on Twitter:
