Several Tottenham Hotspur fans are calling for the club to agree a new contract with Jan Vertonghen, following the news that Toby Alderweireld had signed a new deal (@SpursOfficial).
Alderweireld’s contract was set to expire in the summer, but he has now committed his future to the club putting pen-to-paper on an extension which will see him stay in north London until 2023.
Vertonghen has been a regular alongside his compatriot at the heart of both Tottenham and Belgium’s defence in recent years and they have formed an excellent partnership.
However, as with his teammate, his contract is also due to run out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt) and he is still to commit his future to the club.
With Alderweireld’s future now sorted, plenty of Spurs fans want the club to agree fresh terms with his defensive partner in the near future.
