Tottenham Hotspur: Major stadium naming rights deal update emerges

There has been a major off-field update out of Tottenham Hotspur on the club’s long-time pursuit of a lucrative stadium naming rights deal.

The Lowdown: Spurs chase mega money contract…

Since the Lilywhites moved into their brand new, state of the art ground worth an estimated £850 million, chairman Daniel Levy and the Spurs board have been actively seeking out a mega-money stadium naming rights deal.

Tottenham latest developments!

Levy has been holding out for a £25 million-per-year agreement since the end of 2019 as their negotiations with various blue-chip companies continue over two years on.

Household brands like Amazon and Nike were tipped with a real interest in securing the deal for Spurs’ naming rights but neither talks or an agreement materialised (The Daily Mail).

Tottenham even enlisted the help of former NFL executive Todd Kline as chief commercial officer this time last year.

The club board member helped to facilitate an 18-year naming rights deal for the Miami Dolphins worth an estimated £180 million, yet neither Kline or Spurs have managed to seal a deal as things stand.

The Latest: Tottenham open talks…

Now, according to Football Insider, the search for a mega-money agreement has taken a ‘new step’ with talks now held over a naming rights deal worth up to £500 million.

Indeed, it is claimed that Tottenham negotiations have taken place with an unnamed company over a possible 20-year contract – though the result of these talks isn’t specified.

The Verdict: Huge…

A possible naming rights deal worth this much over 20 years would come as absolutely huge, especially considering it could go a long way to paying off Tottenham’s debts.

The club announced a huge £84 million loss after tax in their most recent financial statement with a naming rights handshake arguably crucial in helping to steer Spurs back on course.

As fans arguably wait in baited breath to see if a deal can finally materialise, it will certainly be an interesting development to keep watch over.
