Internazionale are showing an interest in signing Jan Vertonghen, as has been reported by The Guardian.
Having been told that the 32-year-old will not be sold during the January transfer, Inter are now hoping to make a pre-contract agreement with the Belgium international at the break of the New Year, ahead of a free transfer in the summer:

However, many Spurs fans are feeling that he should be allowed to leave as soon as possible, with it looking as though the club will need a new dawn soon anyway.
With Toby Alderweireld’s contract also coming to an end in the summer, as per Transfermarkt, Spurs will likely need to start their rebuild with the defence.

The Telegraph have reported that the North London club could move for Joe Gomez, with the feeling seeming to be that fresher talent such as the 22-year-old would be more useful than the ageing Vertonghen and Alderweireld.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the report, including posts from decisive Spurs fans, can be seen below:

Not the same player now. I would sell him.

Jan and Toby are now too slow for us to consistently compete. We need faster more mobile defenders to progress.
