Speaking to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has sent a message to defender Ryan Sessegnon following his latest injury setback.

The Lowdown: Sessegnon on the sidelines...

Antonio Conte's left wing-back was just starting to come on leaps and bounds before his latest knock, with journalist Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic tipping the 21-year-old's recent run to potentially kickstart his Spurs career.

Impressive performances against the likes of Leeds United and Manchester City earned real praise from observers, and for a time, it seemed that he was finally free of the fitness issues which have shackled him at Tottenham.

However, that wasn't to be the case, with the English ace's latest problem now attracting some criticism from Roberts.

The Latest: Roberts make Sessegnon claim...

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the ex-Lilywhites hero didn't hold back in his disbelief over Sessegnon's injury record, even claiming that the youngster needs to 'become a man' and 'become stronger'.

Roberts fumed: “Sessegnon needs to grow up, become a man, and become stronger.”

The Verdict: Untimely blow...

Just as the 21-year-old was starting to establish himself as a regular under Conte, this period on the sidelines really could not have come at a worse time.

Raving over Sessegnon after their 3-2 victory away to Man City a month ago, Tottenham's head coach called the defender 'strong', 'fast' and resilient with a good engine (The Athletic).

Conte also said that he personally trusts the starlet, with it being safe to say that this fresh injury blow will be very disappointing news to the ex-Chelsea manager.

Sessegnon could come back stronger but it may take yet another uphill climb for him to fight his way back into a regular starting XI at Tottenham.
