Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly enquired about the possibility of signing Everton winger Anthony Gordon this summer, according to 90min

The lowdown: Breakout campaign

Previously a lesser-seen hot prospect from the youth system, the youngster spent time on loan at Preston during 2020/21, where he continued to learn his craft as a flying attacker.

Upon returning to Everton, the 21-year-old began the campaign as a bit-part player but soon earned a place as a regular starter and was ultimately an integral part of Frank Lampard's team as the Merseyside club narrowly managed to stave off the threat of relegation.

As Spurs continue to be heavily linked with a move for his team-mate Richarlison, it now appears as though the north Londoners have also taken an interest in Gordon...

The latest: Enquiry made

As per 90min, Tottenham are believed to have 'held discussions' with Everton over both Richarlison and Gordon this summer.

It's claimed that Spurs have 'asked about' the England under-21 starlet as part of their planning for the upcoming 2022/23 campaign, with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici seemingly keen to bolster each department of the squad.

The report claimed that the north London club are 'admirers' of Gordon and would hope to do a deal involving one of Tanguy Ndombele, Matt Doherty or Jack Clarke heading in the opposite direction.

There is also the possibility that Tottenham could allow the youngster - who was previously hailed as 'electric' by journalist Phil Kirkbride before his first-team breakthrough - to return to Goodison Park on loan after completing a transfer.

The verdict: Make it happen

Following an impressive rise through the youth ranks, including a 14-goal campaign in the Under-18 Premier League in 2017/18, Gordon made great strides last term and ended the season with four goals and two assists in 35 league outings in what was a difficult year for the most part on the blue half of Merseyside.

Overall, the pacey winger - who is equally adept operating from either flank - earned an impressive 6.89 Sofascore rating whilst winning 4.9 duels, completing 1.1 dribbles and making one key pass per Premier League appearance in 2021/22.

Albeit far from the finished article, perhaps unlike other targets such as Richarlison or Leeds United star Raphinha, Gordon would still be a fine addition to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ranks

Given his age profile, likely squad role behind Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min, and the potentially moderate price bracket, he could even be the more attainable transfer target ahead of the Brazilian duo.
