Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison left the stadium on crutches on Saturday after sustaining an injury in Spurs’ 2-0 win over Everton, according to journalist Dan Kilpatrick.

Taking to Twitter, the journalist claimed: “Tearful Richarlison leaves Spurs stadium on crutches amid fears his World Cup dream could be over.”
In the attached article, the 25-year-old is quoted as having subsequently told ESPN Brasil: “It’s kind of hard to say because it’s close to the realisation of my dream [of the World Cup].
“I’ve already suffered a similar injury to this, but I hope it can heal as soon as possible. The last time when I was at Everton, I was out of action for about two months.
“I know it’s hard to talk at this moment, but let’s see, I’ll recover. Monday, I have an exam but even walking hurts. I have to stay positive if I want to go to Qatar.”
The Verdict: Massive blow
If Richarlison is deemed unfit for the next few months, this will come as a collective blow for the player, the Brazil national team and Tottenham.
In the Champions League this season, the attacker has averaged the third-highest match rating out of the entire Spurs squad, having contributed 2.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game as a starter in all four of the Lilywhites’ continental clashes (via WhoScored).
