Interest in the 24-year-old, who will be hoping to force his way back into the England set-up, is extremely high- with Leicester City, Aston Villa, Swansea City and West Brom all keen on his signature.
Townsend has found first-team chances at a premium under Mauricio Pochettino but England boss Roy Hodgson is a big fan of his, meaning that a return to regular action could see Townsend become a crucial part of the Three Lions Euro 2016 squad.
Spurs fans understand that Townsend is well within his rights to leave but are concerned to lose a player they see as very talented.
