Tottenham: Scouts sent to watch Benjamin Sesko in action

Slovenia forward Benjamin Sesko celebrates after scoring vs Serbia

Tottenham have sent scouts to watch highly-rated RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko in action ahead of a possible move, according to a new report.

The Lowdown: Sesko flying for Salzburg

At just 19 years of age, the Slovenian is already arguably one of Salzburg’s most influential players, with his performances in recent years making headlines across Europe.

Sesko has scored nine goals in just 12 Austrian Bundesliga starts this season, not to mention netting 22 times in 68 appearances for his club overall, even drawing comparisons to Erling Haaland for their similar rises through the ranks.

The striker is contracted at Salzburg until 2026 but they could find it difficult to keep hold of him this summer, with sister club Leipzig even reportedly agreeing a deal to sign him already.

The Latest: Spurs scouting youngster

According to 90min, Tottenham were one of a host of Premier League clubs who had an official in attendance watching Sesko during his team’s 4-2 win over Rapid Wien on Sunday, in which he scored a hat-trick.

Manchester United, West Ham, Leicester City, Wolves and Leeds United are the other English clubs seemingly in the mix, while Inter Milan are also mentioned, but it seems they will all have to either scupper the Leipzig deal to make it happen, or agree a future move for 2024.

The Verdict: Could be a sensational signing

Sesko really does look like a special young talent, drawing comparisons with Haaland not just because of the Salzburg connection but because of his combination of pace, power and lethal finishing.

Will Kane finish his career at Spurs?

No

The five-goal Slovenia international is a towering 6 foot 5 in height but he is also extremely mobile – clocked at over 36 km/h last year, he is an absolute nightmare for defenders to keep quiet.

Sesko could be such an exciting signing by Spurs this summer, hopefully coming in as Harry Kane’s eventual long-term successor, or in the worst-case scenario, his replacement if he suddenly leaves.

The youngster was hailed as an ‘outstanding’ player by football talent scout Jacek Kulig over the weekend and he is someone who could be Spurs’ next great attacking hero if he joins.
