Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a special offer to sign Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries in the form of a swap deal, according to reports.
The Lowdown: Paratici making transfer plans…
Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici will be gearing up for another potentially busy transfer window behind the scenes in N17 after a hectic summer.
The Lilywhites completed moves for Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie and a permanent deal for Cristian Romero, although the hectic fixture schedule and injury concerns would indicate that they may need more reinforcements.
Any possible mid-season signings will also need Antonio Conte’s personal go-ahead, with news emerging on Serie A ace Dumfries, who is a target for Tottenham.
The Latest: Tottenham plot Dumfries swap deal…
As the manager seemingly green-lights a move for Dumfries, Spurs are believed to be plotting a unique offer to lower the defender’s €50m (£44m) price tag.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham apparently plan to offer current wing-back Emerson Royal in a part-exchange deal for the Inter defender.
The Verdict: Make the move?
Called a ‘very exciting and effective’ defender by Serie A writer Jerry Mancini, Dumfries could come as solid option to replace Emerson on the right-hand side of Tottenham’s defence.
As per WhoScored, the 26-year-old ranks joint-fifth in Inter’s squad for key passes made per 90, whilst also attempting their third-highest rate of crosses in the league.
If Conte is after a more attack-minded right-back to provide greater creativity in the forward areas and on the overlap, Dumfries could come as a possible solution.
