Tottenham Hotspur have been told to target 'phenomenal' Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk amid claims that Arsenal are chasing him.

The Lowdown: Spurs back Conte...

The Lilywhites backed manager Antonio Conte with eight signings over the summer transfer window, coming after the Italian guided Spurs to a fourth-placed 2021/22 Premier League finish.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici orchestrated the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie whilst also triggering a permanent deal for Cristian Romero.

However, given Spurs' hectic fixture schedule, combined with a mid-season winter World Cup in Qatar, the north Londoners could need more strength in depth soon as eyes turn to January.

The Latest: Tottenham told to target Mudryk...

Speaking to Football Insider on Saturday, club 'insider' John Wenham - who regularly breaks Tottenham news on his Lilywhite Rose social media accounts - has urged Spurs to consider moving for Gunners target Mudryk.

He explained: “I saw he [Mudryk] scored again last night and I saw their highlights from their win over Leipzig, absolutely phenomenal. I have also seen that he has been heavily linked with Arsenal, I just hope Tottenham’s scouts are aware of this guy.

“He looks a real find and he is now doing it at the top level in the Champions League. He looks fantastic.

“He was linked with Arsenal but if Tottenham come in then I expect they would get the player. He is definitely one to watch out for.”

The Verdict: Enter the race?

The Ukrainian sensation stands out as Shakhtar's star player at such a young age, with WhoScored detailing that he is top of the pile in terms of average match rating per 90 in the Champions League at the Donetsk club.

Over his two European outings this term, Mudryk has already racked up two goals and two assists, whilst completing more dribbles and attracting more fouls than any Shakhtar player (WhoScored).

The 21-year-old is fast becoming a hot property and we believe the pull of a big-name manager like Antonio Conte could even make Spurs among the favourites for his signature.

Taking this into account, Paratici should at the very least contemplate entering contention.
