After failing to defend their 2011/12 Premier League crown, Manchester City went on a large recruitment drive during the summer of 2013 as they looked to wrestle the title back from rivals Manchester United.
And that recruitment drive involved bringing in Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla with Manuel Pellegrini keen to improve his options up front, which supporters were glad to see.

Looking at Negredo’s goal-scoring record, it was not hard to see why Manchester City fans were so excited about the Spaniard’s arrival.
In his last season at Sevilla before joining the Citizens, Negredo scored 25 goals in 36 La Liga appearances, putting into perspective the sort of firepower Pellegrini and Txiki Begiristain were bringing to the Etihad.
In the end, though, that proved to be far from the case. While Negredo was largely impressive in all of the cup competitions for Manchester City, he was simply not as prolific when it came to playing in the Premier League.
In 32 appearances in English football’s top flight, the 33-year-old scored nine goals, an underwhelming figure considering what he accomplished in Spain and how much money was forked out on his Manchester City transfer.
Now at Al-Nasr following spells with Besiktas, Middlesbrough and Valencia after spending just one season at the Etihad, Negredo ended up being a disappointing signing for the Premier League champions despite all of the promise that came with his move.
