The 29-year-old made his debut for Newcastle on the 29th of January, getting the assist for the opening goal in a 2–1 win against Aston Villa.
Some supporters were over the moon with the club’s decision to secure the services of the Frenchaman, as they took to the confirmation on Twitter to express their delight over the signing.

In July 2003, Sissoko signed with professional club Toulouse FC. He signed a youth contract and was placed in the club’s under-14 team. Sissoko spent three years developing in the club’s youth academy alongside future teammates before earning a call up to the club’s reserve team ahead of the 2006–07 season.
Midway through the 2006–07 season, Sissoko signed his first professional contract agreeing to a three-year deal with Toulouse until June 2010. The Frenchman made a name for himself during his time at Toulouse, as he attracted strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur back in the 2009/2010 season.
But, it wasn’t until the 21st of January 2013 that he finally decided to move to England, as Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United secured the services of the midfielder on a six-and-a-half year deal.
He made his debut for Newcastle on the 29th of January, getting the assist for the opening goal in a 2–1 win against Aston Villa, and then went on to grab a brace in a victory against Chelsea.
The midfielder established himself as one of the hottest topics in the Premier League during his time at St James’ Park, as he scored 12 goals and provided 19 assists in 133 games for the Magpies. He also captained the side on a number of occasions and was sensational throughout his spell at Newcastle.
But, Newcastle had to wave goodbye to Sissoko as he made the move to Tottenham Hotspur, with the Magpies suffering relegation to the Championship.
It comes as no surprise that supporters were delighted to see him join back in 2013, as he helped Newcastle secure a number of crucial results against the big guns and turned out to be one of the best signings that the Magpies have ever made in the Premier League.
