On June 13th 2017, Wolverhampton Wanderers signed Roderick Miranda on a four-year deal from Portuguese side Rio Ave.
The 27-year-old made his debut on the 5th of August, playing the whole of a 1–0 home win against Middlesbrough and continued in the league team for 14 matches, before falling out of favour with manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Supporters thought that their side had just secured a player that had the potential to really succeed at Molineux, without knowing what the future had in store, as they took to the confirmation of the signing on Twitter with delight.

Born in Odivelas, Roderick Miranda arrived in Benfica’s youth academy in 2000 at age 9. He was promoted to the first team nine years later after having played in all the youth ranks of the Primeira Liga giants, and appeared in some pre-season and Taca da Liga matches in his debut campaign.
For the 2011-12 season, Roderick was loaned to Servette in Switzerland. And, on the 31st of July 2012 he joined Deportivo de La Coruna in the La Liga and returned to Benfica in the following transfer window.
However, Roderick was released by Benfica in August 2013, so opted to sign a five-year deal with Rio Ave, where he enjoyed four years of his footballing career.
On the 13th of June 2017, Jorge Mendes worked closely with Wolverhampton Wanderers as they secured the services of one of his clients, Roderick Miranda, for an undisclosed fee.
He made his debut on the 5th of August, playing the whole of a 1–0 home win against Middlesbrough. But, the central defender fell out of favour with manager Nuno Santo after enjoying a run in the side, as he finished the season with 19 appearances in all competitions as Wolves claimed the Championship title.
So, it comes as some surprise that supporters were so excited about the defender joining as he has proven to be a Jorge Mendes transfer blunder, with a permanent move away looking inevitable having spent the current campaign on loan at Greek side Olympiacos.
