In July 2017, Romelu Lukaku made the massive move to Man United for an initial £75m, in one of the biggest deals of the summer.
The Belgian spent four seasons at Goodison Park, including a season-long loan before signing from Chelsea. He scored 87 goals for The Toffees over his four seasons, and in the process became one of the leading strikers in the Premier League.
His move seemed inevitable, as he was appearing to outgrow Everton. However, fans of The Blues weren’t particularly dismayed by the player’s departure.
The fans were quick to point out the player’s loyalty, and particularly his attitude and work rate. Furthermore, some fans were quick to criticise his ability, questioning his first touch. Admittedly, this is a reputation that he has not been able to shake off during his time at Old Trafford.
Overall, while most people would have thought that the fans would be disappointed at the striker’s departure, they seemed far from it.
